Hermanus & Caledon, Overberg
This 976 sq m plot is in a tranquil part of Stanford village, on the last road on the edge of the town, opposite an open field, with a private nature reserve and the Klein River beyond that. Often in the mornings the only noises are from cranes (the blue variety, not the construction-type), fish eagles and harrier hawks. On the plot there is an old tractor shed which will make an ideal greenhouse, artist's studio, workshop/storeroom or long garage. This land was part of a larger erf owned by a farmer who grew veggies here until recently, so the soil is fertile and ideal for a vegetable garden with fruit trees and fynbos. Roses love it too. Buiten Street is a cul-de-sac, so there's no passing traffic, which makes this area of town particularly safe for children. The village is very pet-friendly and many people walk their dogs (and their cats!!) along this road to the nearby wandelpad. The plot is level and has direct access to Buiten Street. It is fenced on three sides and has all municipal services installed at the boundary point. Stanford is a wonderful village to live in, or to come to for holidays. It offers a gentleness and kindness associated with a small community. There are small markets; organic meat, eggs and veggies; lots of artists and crafters; small breweries and world-class restaurants and wine farms in the area; loads of community organisations; and many sporting opportunities - from canoeing and sailing nearby to hiking, birding, cycling ... or just sitting on your stoep and greeting passers-by. Hermanus is only 20 minutes away with excellent medical facilities and a wide variety of shops ... and beaches ... and whales.
